Evaluation

The therapy process begins with an initial evaluation, it is the first step in collaboratively developing a treatment plan. It also offers an opportunity to determine whether you feel I am the right fit for you.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to explore and address the concerns that have led you to seek help. This process looks different for everyone and can incorporate a variety of approaches. The typical psychotherapy session is 50 minutes. The frequency of sessions varies based on individual need.

Addiction Specific Services

In addition to general psychotherapy for mental health concerns I also offer services specifically targeting addiction.
Standard Alcohol and Drug Assessments

These assessments determine the presence and or progression of a substance use disorder. The assessment process results in a recovery plan (treatment plan) or referrals to more appropriate provider or level of care. Structured screening tools such as the Addition Severity Index and the SASSI can be included as part of the assessment process.

Aftercare Counseling and Relapse Prevention

I offer ongoing aftercare support during and after the completion of all levels of care in treatment programs. This can include reinforcement of tools learned in treatment as well as expanding on those skills. Implementation of relapse prevention strategies and support for the challenges of early recovery are at the heart of this process.

Third-Party Alcohol and Drug Assessments

In some cases, assessments are needed as result of a third-party request such as for school or legal purposes. These assessments may require additional steps such as, lab verified drug test, collection and review of collateral data and corroborating contacts, as well as the use of structured screening tools. (contingent on the nature of the request)

Treatment Placement Consultation and Assistance

Navigating the addiction treatment industry can be challenging. If you are concerned about yourself or a loved one and not sure what next steps to take, I offer assessments and consultations related to the decision to seek treatment. I can assist in locating an appropriate facility. In some cases, you may not know if there is a problem or may not be ready to act. I can answer questions and provide information to help you gain a better understanding of your situation and the options available.

My Approach to Substance Use Disorders:

Addiction and substance use disorders are complex. Although the wide consensus is that we may have not found a cure they are treatable. I hold the belief that the treatment and answers to the problems that arise from these disorders are not a one size fits all and do not believe any one approach is right for everyone. I believe everyone's recovery journey is unique. I do however believe the disease of addiction is chronic and progressive and that people enter recovery at different points of the progression and thus treatment and recovery may look different for everyone. I am an advocate for the combination of medication and counseling and am willing to work alongside prescribers in supporting your recovery. Within My practice I offer services specific to addiction.

Payment and Insurance

Currently, I do not accept insurance. I'm happy to provide you with a statement with the required information needed for you to submit for your out of network benefits.

I accept major credit cards, cash, and checks.
